Back in the 1970’s Jim had a stained glass business doing both residential and commercial commissions. During that time he worked with many West Coast glass artists who are still active today. Later, while working in other high-tech fields, he continued to study and do workshops to keep close to his love of glass. Now he is back in his studio and producing pieces. It is both the science of glass, new techniques in fusing, and the challenges of solving the artistic problems in a demanding medium that motivates his work at JAMES NEVITT STUDIO GLASS.

| March 2004 – August 2007 Founded James Nevitt Studio Glass, a Berkeley studio at 2703 7th St, which produced fused and stained glass, both retail and on commission. Also sold glass art through galleries in Capitola and Pescadero, CA. |
| 1988 – 2004 15 years in the pre-press operations business at printing companies in the San Francisco Bay Area. Took numerous glass workshops in kiln-fired glass and hot glass techniques from Fenton Studios and elsewhere. |
| 1979 – 1987 Manufacturing Operations Manager at several high tech silicon wafer manufacturing companies in the South Bay (San Jose) area. Previously: Founded and operated Grand Illusion Art Glass in Santa Clara, CA. Produced commercial and residential stained glass installations throughout Santa Cruz, Los Gatos and San Jose.
